DeviOS is a project that seeks to create spaces where institutions all around Latin America to share , create, develop and innovate in virtual worlds. It is the first network under OpenSimulator , a platform for Open Source and Free Software that seeks to speed up the process of e -learning and e-training , with content ready to be used by institutions and companies . Definitely a theme that will be of real interest to many , was a huge pleasure to have such a presence plus they have given us their support during the preparation of the event.

( 15:29:09 ) beastieux : Welcome to Diana Salazar
( 15:29:09 ) beastieux : DEVI SAS Manager – Projects in 3D Virtual Worlds .
( 15:29:24 ) beastieux url: http://devi.com.co/
( 15:29:40 ) beastieux : who will talk about :
( 15:29:41 ) beastieux : deviOS – Network Business Education and Virtual 3D
( 15:30:24 ) devi : Hi , good afternoon to all , as well as Beastieux am Diana Salazar said , nice to be sharing this moment with you
( 15:31:01 ) devi : José accompanies us – in this intervention jor3l
( 15:31:39 ) devi : DEVI is a Colombian company , which for several years and has developed applications for three-dimensional virtual worlds , focusing on education and business.
( 15:32:21 ) devi : I do not know how many of you are linked in some way to multiuser online platforms such as Second Life , Blue Mars , and even with OpenSim
( 15:32:32 ) devi : that I want to talk a little,
( 15:33:14 ) devi : Today virtual worlds in education and business, are spaces that have great potential
( 15:33:53 ) devi : not only because we allow a connection in real time with other users, but rather because they help foster that collaborative learning with which many have dreamed
( 15:34:28 ) devi : Further , are platforms that have their first access freely and can be surprisingly potentiate
( 15:35:13 ) devi : in a virtual world users can have a personality “avatar ” to interact in the space created , generating a sense of immersion quite attractive
( 15:35:40 ) mode ( + or chepecarlos ) by ChanServ
( 15:35:49 ) devi : I say Sexy as virtual worlds games that may seem at first glance, are very well designed ,
( 15:36:12 ) devi : Harnessing this to generate educational interactions and even business would have very good results.
( 15:36:46 ) devi : There are several platforms and virtual worlds …. tell you why talk about this if we are now addressing the issue of free software , you’ll see where we go.
( 15:36:58 ) devi : Second Life is a multi- platform in which you can create all kinds of content, from animation to programming , virtual spaces are payments .
( 15:37:16 ) el_ruso has left the room (quit : Quit: Leaving ) .
( 15:37:17 ) devi : by the way, my avatar in Second Life is Debora Ducrot , in case you have an account and want to talk a little there
( 15:38:03 ) devi : Bluemars meanwhile , is a platform whose graphs are much better than SecondLife and seeks to be a space to create games or simulations , the atmosphere is closed and limited to third party software development
( 15:38:53 ) devi : Jibe3D is the implementation of a virtual world through browsers ( possibly mobile devices) with Unity uses the Unity server technology and is limited to previously developed scenes ( no construction or editing content in real time by the user )
( 15:39:43 ) devi : and finally I would submit to Open Sim , The ‘ Apache ‘ virtual worlds , now seeks to offer the features of SecondLife on a free and open space, dedicated servers for optimal performance and required stable .
( 15:40:59 ) devi : Devi us as we have been doing development on this platform, which is free and its code is implemented collaboratively
( 15:41:58 ) devi : we believe that virtual worlds for education and businesses should be free, free , must be available to users as they have great potential when derealizar activities and simulations that create meaningful learning
( 15:44:16 ) devi : Second Life becomes a power, because even for those who know a little, has an economy in itself, and that makes a premium account and have limited access to some content , with OpenSimulator give way to application deployment within this platform that bring us closer to the future internet , collaborative , meaningful , immersive …
( 15:44:37 ) devi : free !
( 15:45:00 ) devi : We have right now our online platform OpenSimulator
( 15:45:06 ) devi : open to the public ,
( 15:45:14 ) devi : we invite you to register and explore a bit
( 15:45:22 ) devi : registration may do so at
( 15:45:50 ) devi : http://opensim.co/join/
( 15:46:16 ) devi : we seek to connect multiple educational and business projects undertaken in this type of open platforms
( 15:46:25 ) devi : a network that facilitates the exchange of knowledge
( 15:46:29 ) alphaser [~ alphaser @ unaffiliated / alphaser ] has entered the room .
( 15:46:33 ) devi : teachers , students
( 15:46:40 ) devi : virtually, immersive
( 15:47:13 ) eduzgz [~ eduromo@196.Red-83-42-105.dynamicIP.rima-tde.net ] has entered the room .
( 15:48:04 ) devi : I want to leave you with Joseph is the developer of our company , the genius of free applications that are created.
( 15:48:46 ) jor3l : Hi, good afternoon to all
( 15:49:28 ) alphaser has left the room .
( 15:49:30 ) jor3l : Well , as I said I am devi Diana in the development side , which focus on Web development , virtual ( on the platform ) and mobile
( 15:50:57 ) jor3l : much of what we are doing , is free, we seek to encourage individuals, businesses and universities to develop for OpenSim because the possibilities are many but need help so you can experience the best
( 15:51:33 ) jor3l : OpenSim has been developing in recent years and today we can say that racing in Second Life performance , however using OpenSim is complex and that’s one of the problems we try to solve
( 15:51:52 ) jacobsolism [~ firstname.lastname@example.org ] entered the room.
( 15:52:10 ) jor3l : some applications we have developed seek to offer practical solutions to the use of the platform for users and administrators (teachers , institutions or companies )
( 15:53:02 ) Serafin has left the room (quit : Quit: Leaving ) .
( 15:53:19 ) jor3l for example through the web through an application that helps block the creation of LSL code that gives life to the virtual objects are designed , they can see a demo at http:// www.youtube.com / devimedia # p/u/7/6S248KSjZRc
( 15:53:37 ) chepecarlos has left the room (quit : Read error: Connection reset by peer ) .
( 15:54:06 ) jor3l : this in order that the OpenSim uses need not be expert in areas that do not belong but if it is in the ability to take advantage of what the platform offers
( 15:55:21 ) carlos_ [~ email@example.com ] has entered the room .
( 15:55:25 ) jor3l : that the web side , in the virtual, we have different applications for 3D content creation , mind maps , ratings boards and the possibilities are endless , it is even possible to connect these virtual objects web platforms and web processes enrich virtual education ( eg moodle )
( 15:57:19 ) jor3l : the mobile part , we want to bring the 3D experience to a device, for the moment , we develop and release the code of an application in J2ME (Java mobile ) that allows entry to OpenSim and Second Life from not very advanced phones, perform basic tasks and communicate in real time with other users of the platform
( 15:59:11 ) jor3l : want to do the same through the web , as there are moving toward virtual worlds , allow the installation of software on one side and use the browser to explore the world in 3D, for it we are initiating research around WebGL and Flash 3D
( 15:59:48 ) jor3l : I forgot to tell you , they can find the information on the J2ME application here: http://devi.com.co/dev/j2me-opensim
( 16:00:30 ) Yesikita [ 529c8883 @ gateway/web/freenode/ip.220.127.116.11 ] entered the room.
( 16:00:56 ) jor3l : good with this I tell you that there is much to do and ultimately virtual worlds will be imposed as an improvement and a solution to education , training and virtual simulation
( 16:01:28 ) gonzalezmd [ bd842a27 @ gateway/web/freenode/ip.18.104.22.168 ] entered the room.
( 16:02:19 ) devi : any concerns about it were attentive. can write to firstname.lastname@example.org follow us on twitter @ foravatars and visit our website for more information www.devi.com.co
( 16:02:49 ) jor3l : we must develop freely helps this to become a reality in the near future and if you are looking to make money there are many ways to monetize what takes place in a virtual world is or not free, so chances are tabi business
( 16:02:51 ) Yukiteru [~ Yukiteru@22.214.171.124 ] has entered the room .
( 16:03:39 ) devi : the mail is email@example.com I was wrong , if you have any questions ?
( 16:04:51 ) carlos_ has left the room (quit : Remote host closed the connection ) .
( 16:04:56 ) beastieux : Thank you Diana and Joseph
( 16:05:16 ) beastieux : If anyone has any questions ?
( 16:05:25 ) beastieux : send it to me by im
( 16:06:10 ) beastieux : what qualities should consider having developers who want to support this project?
( 16:06:19 ) chepecarlos [~ firstname.lastname@example.org ] has entered the room .
( 16:07:39 ) jor3l : Well, for the development of OpenSim as such , the platform works on C #, so knowledge of the language is essential to develop around the platform you can use any language, to be free you have total control over the services they use OpenSim
( 16:08:16 ) jor3l : inside the platform is developed with LSL , this is similar to Java language and is the same as used in Second Life
( 16:08:58 ) hellhound [~ email@example.com ] has entered the room .
( 16:09:19 ) beastieux : There is some form of integration with Second Life, or intends to be a fully detached from second life ?
( 16:09:59 ) hellhound has left the room .
( 16:10:07 ) devi -that in the technical area , I also essential to have commitment to development and who have at least one hour a week to plan for skype with our team in Colombia processes or developments to follow.
( 16:10:40 ) jor3l : The content created in OpenSim can be carried SecondLife and vice versa, but not everything works as they are different technologies , different tools that offer a ‘ free ‘ but is not complete
( 16:11:34 ) chepecarlos has left the room (quit : Remote host closed the connection ) .
( 16:11:52 ) jor3l : But from OpenSim is possible to travel between servers, connect with others around the world in a large virtual space
( 16:13:31 ) devi : In addition to that, we like that through OpenSim are created independent spaces , free from distractions , focused on education or business, according to customer requirements ; more private.
( 16:13:38 ) jor3l : By this I mean that it is possible eg to visit a university network in the U.S. and return to my network without leaving OpenSim
( 16:14:14 ) beastieux : Finally, we believe that is the importance of virtual worlds , this time we have been also doing the event for second life , as well as many other events are held , according to you , where they believe is the importance of virtual worlds
( 16:15:44 ) devi : The importance is depending on the use you want to give to the virtual world
( 16:15:57 ) devi : eg Second Life Community Matters
( 16:16:05 ) devi : Open Sim matter to be free!
( 16:17:06 ) devi : if you use the virtual world to educate , the importance lies in the immersion and meaningful learning that is acquired through various simulations
( 16:17:14 ) devi : e interactions with the environment
( 16:18:04 ) devi : if you use the virtual world for business , the importance lies in the network and in the practical link between distance and time
( 16:18:43 ) devi : It all depends on the approach as we say , and do not forget to also become important in the playful .
( 16:19:44 ) beastieux : I think there is more k questions ?
( 16:20:09 ) beastieux : again thank our speakers
( 16:20:17 ) devi : We leave this video to end http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uxsd61QciV4&feature=player_embedded
( 16:20:19 ) devi : thank you very much
( 16:20:27 ) beastieux : thank you very much to you !
